As mentioned last month I'm continuing my series based on industrial imagery translated into cross-stitch.
This is the third and final piece of the series. It's called:
Rusting & Flaking
I'll be submitting the series to three fibre art shows in 2016, two in Ontario and one in Kentucky.
Now to prepare for my next exhibition which will be the entire 21 KONSTRUKTIONS: Cross-Stitch in St. John's, Newfoundland in the Annex Gallery at the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador. In anticipation of a long journey and time in the hotel I've begun translating one of the 21K Paintings: Terra Cotta into cross stitch. Here we have a closer homage to what originally inspired me to attempt fine cross stitch because I'm basing the pattern on a painting in hopes the textile piece will appear painterly.
Here is the painting I'm referencing:
It's the most successful painting on paper to date, in my opinion so I anticipate great things in thread.
